Kyambadde Seeks Rematch with Dr. Hilderman in Mawokota North
Former Minister Amelia Kyambadde has officially launched her bid to reclaim the Mawokota North constituency seat in the 2026 elections, setting the stage for a rematch with incumbent MP Hillary Kiyaga, commonly known as Dr. Hilderman.

Kyambadde, who served as a presidential advisor on Trade and Industry, is determined to complete her unfinished projects in Mawokota North county ¹. Her decision comes after a narrow loss to Dr. Hilderman in the 2021 elections, which she graciously accepted, congratulating the musician on his victory.

The two have a complex history, with Dr. Hilderman having been a favorite in Kyambadde's household and even recording a song in her praise during the 2011 elections. However, Dr. Hilderman's current relationship with his party, the National Unity Platform (NUP), and its president, Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), is strained, with many viewing him as a rebel working closely with Mathias Mpuuga, a known adversary of NUP.

As the 2026 elections approach, the Mawokota North constituency is expected to be a highly contested seat, with Kyambadde's experience and determination pitted against Dr. Hilderman's popularity and incumbency.
